Introducing LawCord: Expanding Networking Opportunities on Discord

Welcome to LawCord! We are proud to launch our initiative of LawCord this year, brought to you by a team of Monash Law students who are passionate about expanding networking opportunities beyond traditional avenues of communication such as LinkedIn. As part of LawCord, we aim to facilitate active study discussions between law students, while also giving them an opportunity to aspire towards a future career in law through Discord.

However, it has not always been easy launching this initiative. Prior to starting LawCord, most of us did not use Discord before, and to the extent that we connected with legal professionals, it was mainly through LinkedIn. Furthermore, Discord was not seen as a conventional way for law students to network with lawyers, given how it is mainly young people that use that platform. Despite these obstacles, we are proud to say that LawCord is finally up and running, and here are some resources that our initiative will offer:

  • Study Tips: Gain insight from countless law students into how you can manage an efficient study-life balance while also succeeding in university.

  • Career Tips: Receive guidance on how you can achieve your aspiration to enter into a law career, whether it is getting started with applications into firms, or whether you are at an interview stage before you learn whether you are recruited.

  • Networking Opportunities with Lawyers: Keep in touch with future job opportunities in the field of law and learn what it is like to work in a law firm.

We welcome you aboard on this once in a lifetime adventure, where you can expand your online networking opportunities and interact with the new generation of legal professionals in a newly tech-savvy world! If you have any queries, feel free to reach out to us!
